Pro-Life

I unequivocally support the sanctity of Life. As the father of six wonderful children, a new grandfather and a Christian, I believe that the federal government has an obligation to protect the rights of the unborn.

In addition to protecting the rights of the unborn, we must also ensure that taxpayer funds do not go directly or indirectly towards abortions, abortion services, or any organization that promotes or performs abortion. President Obama’s new health care law does not adequately protect taxpayer dollars from being used for abortions. This was chief among many reasons I opposed this trillion-dollar government takeover of America’s health care system.

In March, Americans watched as these Pro-Life concerns became one of the more controversial debates over the health care bill. The bill could potentially allow taxpayer dollars to be used for subsidies to purchase insurance policies that cover abortion services. President Obama attempted to alleviate concerns about the bill (Section 1303 in particular) through an Executive Order. However, an Executive Order can be eliminated at any time, it does not have the force of law, and this one in particular failed to respond to the concerns of the Pro-Life community.
